BUJINKAN

Budo-Taijutsu / Ninjutsu

The Bujinkan is an international martial arts organization based in Japan and headed by Soke (Grandmaster) Masaaki Hatsumi. The combat system taught by this organization comprises nine separate ryūha (schools), which are collectively referred to as Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu. These ryūha are descended from 6 historical samurai schools that teach samurai martial tactics and 3 ninjutsu schools that teach ninja tactics.

Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu training does not include participation in competitions or contests. The school's training aims to develop self-improvement as well as the ability to protect oneself and others using techniques that focus on disabling an attacker or removing their desire/ability to continue, as efficiently and with as little harm as possible.

Ninjutsu (忍術) translates as the “art of perseverance.” Cultivation of a good heart and indomitable spirit are just as important as the techniques learned. Contrary to popular belief, the Ninja were not evil spies or enemies of the Samurai. Nor did they possess magical powers to disappear or control the elements. Many Ninja were normal people like farmers,  family men/women that possessed a very special set of skills to help keep their family, village, and sovereign safe.
